HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS 101: In-Class Approach

"Healthy Relationships 101" utilizes in-class assignments, interactive coursework, journal writing, and role-playing exercises to teach students a dynamic set of communication and social skills. Our classes support character development and cultivate thriving, healthy relationships in all areas of students’ lives. The program is available in 10-week sessions and assemblies. Here is a list of topics that are addressed in the course:

  • Effective Communication Tools
  • Bullying Prevention
  • Empathy
  • Healthy Boundaries
  • Media Influence on Relationships
  • Identifying and Avoiding Abusive Relationships
  • Communication Technology and Relationships
  • Texting and Interpersonal Communication

The essential principles of this work help students articulate their needs and feelings without blame and judgment and to listen empathically.

At the conclusion of the course, a Relationship Foundation instructor will meet with the teacher to assess the effectiveness of the curriculum. These assessments evaluate the impact on the students and explore ways to expand the program’s objectives.
