Transform Your School and your Community
The Relationship Foundation (TRF) is an educational nonprofit focused on the essential role of healthy relationships that build a safe space for school age children to succeed personally and academically. We present to educators two foundational elements that can transform a school’s culture.
1. Nonviolent Communication – an extraordinary life skill that fosters greater connection!
We introduce a life skill called Nonviolent Communication (NVC), which fosters respectful and effective relationship skills that create an environment where healthy relationships thrive and flourish. NVC helps to develop a channel of supportive student-teacher and peer relationships.
2. Understanding and Mitigating Trauma!
The second component is providing educators and counselors with background on the CDC peer reviewed Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE) Study conducted with 17,332 participants. Knowledge of this study broadens teachers’ outlook on behavior issues and fosters a Trauma-Responsive approach. In addition, understanding the effect of trauma on healthy brain development adds a further perspective on the root cause of behavior issues!
Relationships are everything!
One caring, stable, consistent relationship builds resilience. A positive relationship can reduce the negative effects of childhood trauma and activate neuroplasticity. A supportive family and school community enable children with trauma to learn, grow, and heal. The Relationship Foundation (TRF) works to transform the foundation of education, giving students lifelong skills to achieve both academically and socially.
TRF offers training sessions that work to develop these relationships skills by providing professional developments, workshops, and seminars through its unique Social Emotional Learning curriculum entitled Healthy Relationships 101. Healthy relationships build motivation and resilience and strengthen the learning environment.
